Jason L Mathieson AKA Woet Edwin believes that creativity is the combination of thought and hard work in perception combined with trust of a greater more complex system. He believes that the creator really becomes a facilitator of things unknown and known, a dictation of sorts which can become anything, but metaphors of something much greater, maybe from the past or the future extracted from the moment as if it always existed to be enjoyed talked about and questioned. The name Woet Edwin was not something made up, it was something that came to him in the same way he makes photos "one imagines making a great photo, not literally but through practice and perseverance, and then one day you make one, a really great one that you couldn't even imagine just like a drawing". When he works he is not focusing on the final outcome but on the process and through that trusts he can make something that surprises him, something that in hindsight couldn't have been all his doing, maybe its the magic of life, the part we don't understand with a power to present things in surprising ways unexpected. Working as a welder and a practicing artist in his spare time is how Woet Edwin came about, after purchasing a pair of secondhand overalls to work his day job he noticed that the overalls where labeled on the inside with the name Woet Edwin and so like a photo or a drawing accepted the surprise as recognition of his thoughts on creating a great artist name, one that would stand out and be easily remembered.

Jason studied photography at Ucol in 2003 and then went on to Fine Arts at Elam in 2011.
